After working with us, many of our clients sold their work to commercial publishers.

NOVELS, SHORT STORIES and NON-FICTION

Manuscript evaluation:

   Offering a broad, overall assessment of your manuscript, pinpointing general strengths and weaknesses. Problem areas will be flagged and suggestions for improvements made. The critique will provide some detailed advice on manuscript revisions.
BASE FEES: $800 for a manuscript up to 80,000 words; $1000 up to 100,000 words; $1250 on longer works.

Hands-On Content editing (Will include some rewriting, if the client wishes):

    Focus on structure, style, content. The editor works with the author on specific problems – structural difficulties, poor pacing, plot or conceptual inconsistencies, unnatural dialogue, poorly developed characters, stylistic troubles, flabby writing. Will include face-to-face or telephone work sessions, as requested.
BASE FEE: $5,000/$6,000/$7,500

Copy editing (often done in conjunction with content editing):

    Editing at the sentence level, focusing on paragraph and sentence structure, word use, dialogue rhythms, etc., with the goal of creating a smooth prose flow. Correction of common errors (grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation), incorrect usages, logic lapses, continuity problems.
BASE FEE: $2,500/$3,500/$5,000.
If done in conjunction with content editing, those fees apply with an additional $1,000/$1,500/$2,000

Development Work:

BASE FEE: $650 minimum for up to five hours/$95 an hour thereafter


TV AND FEATURE-LENGTH SCRIPTS

Read and evaluate:
Detailed analysis of scripts, including characters, story development, structure and dialogue.
BASE FEE: $500 for television scripts; $1,000 for feature-length scripts

Personal consultation and developmental work
BASE FEE: $200 an hour
